Mike Soroka Re-Tears Achilles, Will Miss Rest of 2021
Atlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka's season is over as he will undergo surgery to fix a torn Achilles tendon, the team announced Saturday.
This will be the second season-ending Achilles procedure for the pitcher Soroka, as he suffered “a complete re-tear of the tendon” while walking to the team’s clubhouse on Thursday.
The team said Soroka will require surgery, which will be scheduled within the week. He first tore his right Achilles tendon in the third inning of a 7-2 loss to the Mets at Truist Park in August 2020.
