Braves Banged Up Starter Ian Anderson To Have Shoulder Checked Out During Break
The Atlanta Braves continue to have injury issues, the latest being Ian Anderson who struggled in his outing on Sunday, giving up four earned runs, four Ks and five walks in just 2.1 innings.
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Anderson will likely be heading to the 10-day injured list.
Anderson admitted that he has been dealing with some soreness but thinks it is just inflammation and general wear and tear.
Last season, Anderson started six games for the Braves and was 3-2 with a 1.95 ERA. His career-high in innings came in 2019 when he logged 135 2/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A.
The Braves pitcher will have his shoulder checked out this week during the All-Star break to determine if he indeed will need to go on the injured list.
The Braves drafted Anderson with the 3rd overall pick.
Braves scouting director Brian Bridges spoke about the potential that Anderson has and about his maturity level.
“What really sealed the deal was the maturity of this young man at such a young age…we feel like this guy better fits our organization moving forward.”
