Are The Mets About To Be Down ANOTHER Star Player?

Just when you thought the baseball gods had had enough of picking on the Mets, star first baseman Pete Alonso experiences pain in his hand and may have to miss some time. Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil, Taijuan Walker, and Kevin Pillar have all been placed on the IL this week, so this news isn't helping.

Silver lining: The Mets are still winning (somehow), and Francisco Lindor is still smiling, despite hitting just .189.

What is up with this team? Well, apparently Alonso thinks it's all chemistry:

But as far as Alonso's health goes -- being forced into an MRI is bad news. It shows that the soreness hasn't gone down.

This team knows injuries will catch up with them, regardless of whatever "chemistry" they're benefitting from this week. Losing breakout star Taijuan Walker and three other starters will eventually be a losing equation in Queens, New York.

Alonso hasn't been his usual power-hitting self with the de-juiced baseballs, and parking him on the sidelines with a sore hand now isn't going to help. The Mets need Pete Alonso's presence more than a completely unwarranted Lindor smile right about now. As it is, the Mets will hold their breath that this latest dust up is day-to-day.
