Mississippi Man Describes Being Face-To-Face With Bigfoot

Some OutKick writers jump all over subjects like baseball (Gary), the latest ESPN drama (Bobby) or the college football beat (Clint) while I'm over here focusing my attention on things like the latest Bigfoot sightings from around the country.

Is it sports-related? The haters would argue it's not. But the haters don't pay my paycheck. Clay does. And I know Clay likes a good Bigfoot story just like he loves stories of humans vs. animals with deadly intentions. And with that, I've set a Google Bigfoot news alert so I am up on everything Bigfoot is doing out there in the woods.

Just this week news came out that a Michigan kayaker thinks he saw Bigfoot crossing a river while holding a baby Bigfoot. You guys went nuts over that one, which automatically meant I was assuming the OutKick Bigfoot beat. Remember, my job is to keep you guys entertained at that job you hate.

That brings me to an 'On the Road' type story this week out of Jackson, Mississippi where WJTV reporter Walt Grayson talked to a man, Robert Cloy, who told Walt what it was like to run into a Bigfoot. This wasn't just any encounter, according to Cloy. This was face-to-face stuff. This was the type of encounter that changes lives. The type of encounter you tell your grandkids about. The kind of encounter you win 'Story of the Night' around a campfire while out frog giggin' with your buddies.

“Been there, seen it!" Cloy told Grayson. "And I saw some trees shaking, and I really looked, and I could see the silhouette of him holding trees like that. And then when he realized I saw him, he screamed at me again and that really scared me.”

Mississippi ranks near the bottom of U.S. states in Bigfoot sightings per capita, according to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, so what Cloy's saying here is that he's one of very few Mississippians to have ever been this close to Sasquatch. Animal Planet has described Bigfoot's sound as a “high pitched scream...like a woman being murdered in the woods.”

Going into this week I wasn't a Bigfoot guy, but now I find myself being sucked into all the hysteria. I have the alerts set and wouldn't mind going on a Bigfoot hunt one of these days, even if it means just hearing Bigfoot stories like Robert Cloy's while suckin' down some beers around a fire pit.
