OutKick Announces The Addition Of Multiple SEC Writers
Veteran reporters Glenn Guilbeau and Trey Wallace have joined the OutKick organization to expand coverage of the major sports in the SEC.
Guilbeau has been on the LSU beat since 1998 with multiple outlets in Louisiana, prior to that he had covered both Auburn and Alabama. He won first place for his game feature on LSU’s national championship win over Clemson from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). He was also named Beat Writer of Year, by Louisiana Sports Writers Association in July; placed in three Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) categories – Beat Writer, Explanatory, Game Coverage – last spring. Guilbeau was also the FWAA first-place winner for columns in 2017 and was also the top overall winner in 2016 FWAA placing first for his game story, second in columns, and receiving honorable mention for features.
“I am extremely excited to join the OutKick team and feel unleashed to become an SEC columnist, covering the most fascinating conference in the nation,” he said.
Wallace has been covering University of Tennessee athletics since early 2018. He started covering the SEC in 2012, as the conference landscape was beginning to change.
Prior to his time in Knoxville, Wallace worked in Nashville for The Read Optional, where he first produced content that garnered national attention. His passion for sports is evident in his work and has led him to break some of college football’s biggest stories. His social media reach and natural podcast proficiency continue to make Wallace one of Tennessee’s most trusted sources.
“I am excited to get back into covering the entire SEC and building upon the foundation OutKick has already set,” he said. “This is a fantastic opportunity to take coverage of the biggest conference in college football to the next level.
“I am thrilled to work with a few guys I already know, and also building relationships between OutKick and FOX coworkers. Let’s Roll.”
OutKick founder Clay Travis said that these additions showcase the evolution of the website.
“The addition of both Glenn and Trey further emphasizes the commitment that FOX has for improving the OutKick brand,” Travis said. “They are both respected journalists that can break news, tell compelling stories, and be thought leaders across multiple sports within the SEC.”
Wallace will begin with OutKick on Sept. 13 and Guilbeau will follow with his first filing on Sept. 16. Besides their written content, both will be podcasting as well as hosting certain VIP-only events.
The additions follow that of Armando Salguero (NFL) and Bobby Carpenter (B1G) and will precede several other forthcoming talent announcements.
OutKick's business spans multiple platforms and outlets. The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show is the biggest radio show in the country, reaching 20 million listeners a month.
