NPR Issues Apology For Mistaking Black ESPN Reporter For Maria Taylor

It's 2021, so I'm going to go into this one with the belief that ESPN reporter and podcast host Kimberley A. Martin is genuinely mad at NPR for mistaking her for Maria Taylor in a story that went live on the NPR website after news broke that Taylor was out at the Worldwide Leader. It's a photo identification mess up. It happens.

I know you guys couldn't care less, but sometimes we have to dig into the absurdity that is the fragility of those who work in the media. As if you couldn't already tell, media people -- many of whom always saw themselves as possible actors but whose career never took off -- are some of the softest people you'll ever meet in life.

They get offended over things like an AP photo caption identifying the wrong person, even if it's at the woke NPR. Martin fired off a couple tweets, and wouldn't you know it, NPR issued an apology. Don't even think of digging into the comments under Martin's tweet where she alerts NPR that the photo isn't Maria Taylor.

Save yourself the rise in blood pressure. While you're at it, don't dive into the comments on NPR's apology tweet. Go get some fresh air.

Remember, when you're at ESPN, the minor stuff is blown up into dumb outrages because that's how the machine continues to roll along. Get on your knees and beg for forgiveness, NPR.
