MSNBC Personality: I Will Make My Family Watch Capitol Riot Video ‘Every 4th of July'
July 4 is one of the best days of the year. For most, it means nice weather, fireworks, beer, barbecue, and a celebration of the greatest country in the world. That sounds like a great tradition. However, MSNBC contributor and former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) disagrees. McCaskill has other plans.
"We're going to start a new family tradition in my family," McCaskill announced on Morning Joe Friday.
"On the Fourth of July and every Fourth of July going forward, we're going to watch that video that The New York Times put together of January 6."
The New York Times video, by the way, is 40 minutes long. So, please, don't shoot fireworks off near McCaskill's neighborhood until the video is over.
Just because you want to enjoy your holiday doesn't mean you should stop others from ruining theirs.
Jealousy is a terrible feeling. Yet that's the feeling McCaskill just caused. While others are stuck at the beach trying to find hot women in red, white, and blue bikinis, McCaskill will be inside watching a riot from seven months ago.
I get those bonfires and grilled steaks don't compare to the thrill of watching the QAnon Shaman walk around with headgear, but be thankful you get to eat.
There's always going to be someone better off than you. That's true in your career, and now thanks to Claire McCaskill, that's true of July 4.
