Just In: Jeff Zucker Resigns At CNN After Not Disclosing Consensual Relationship

CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker announced his resignation in an email to staff on Wednesday.

Zucker says he is resigning because he did not disclose a consensual relationship with a female colleague in a timely manner. Investigators asked Zucker about the relationship during a recent probe into former anchor Chris Cuomo.

Zucker did not give the name of his colleague/paramour, but CNN's Brian Stelter reports that it's Allison Gollust, the chief marketing officer for CNN. Gollust will remain at CNN.

"We will be announcing an interim leadership plan shortly," says Jason Kilar, the CEO of CNN's parent company WarnerMedia. "Both of these organizations are at the top of their respective games and are well prepared for their next chapters."

Zucker's resignation comes at a challenging time for CNN. WarnerMedia is merging with Discovery later this year. CNN is also in the process of launching its upcoming streaming service, CNN+, and trying out candidates to helm the 9 pm primetime hour.
