Greg Gumbel Not Doing March Madness Broadcast

March Madness will sound a bit different in the coming weeks as longtime CBS NCAA basketball broadcaster Greg Gumbel will be taking a leave of absence.

The longtime studio host will be missing the upcoming tournament due to "family health issues," according to The Athletic. Ernie Johnson is expected to fill in for Gumbel while he's away.

GUMBEL WILL MISS ALL OF THE NCAA TOURNAMENTS

Anyone who has watched March Madness knows Gumbel's familiar voice as he has been a pivotal voice during all the upsets, mayhem, and chaos that is the NCAA men's and women's Division I basketball tournament.

It's unclear exactly who or what medical issue Gumbel's family member is dealing with.

Gumbel will just be one of a number of changes during the upcoming tournament broadcast.

Longtime legendary announcer Jim Nantz stepped away last year and will be replaced by Ian Eagle along with Bill Rafferty and Grant Hill. Tracy Wolfson will continue to do sideline reporting throughout the games.

The first round of the men's tournament begins on March 21.
