Deep Blue States Faced Mass Exodus in 2021 as Residents Migrated to Florida, Texas

New York and California lost a combined 719,484 residents between 2020 and 2021, as Americans fled deep blue states in favor of deep red and pink states.

The American Experiment organization compiled a chart using Census Bureau data to show each state's domestic net migration for 2021.

There is a list of reasons Americans left blue states for red, including the rising homicide rates in blue cities and exorbitant state taxes.

However, COVID is likely the driving force behind the year's location changes -- particularly COVID policy and response. States that implemented stringent COVID policies, such as lockdowns and mask requirements, lost residents. States that let their residents choose their own COVID reactions gained new residents. Perhaps too many.

Go up and down the list, COVID policy is the common thread.

This doesn't surprise anyone and suggests that Democratic leaders face an uphill battle in the 2022 midterm elections. Americans voted with their feet and said that they agree more with the COVID approaches of Ron DeSantis than Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer. So all of those CBS hit pieces on DeSantis and all the cherry-picked data that CNN reported didn't fool anyone.

These migration results are more telling than results produced by some misleading polling company. Lockdowns were a bad idea, according to American voters.

Also, move the Super Bowl from Los Angeles to Dallas immediately. Football is for the people, right?
