Caitlyn Jenner Says Lia Thomas Hurting Women’s Sports

Caitlyn Jenner does not support Lia Thomas and other biological men competing in women’s sports.

“I’ve said from the beginning, biological boys should not be playing in women’s sports,” said Jenner on Wednesday's America Reports. “We need to protect women’s sports.”

Thomas claims his impact on female sports is positive and Jackie Robinson-like. However, Jenner, who transitioned to a female in 2015, says Thomas' actions are hurting the trans community.

“Obviously this is about Lia Thomas, who has brought a lot of attention to this issue,” Jenner said. “First of all, I respect her decision to live her life authentically. 100 percent. But, that also comes with responsibility and some integrity. I don’t know why she’s doing this. For two reasons: 1. It’s not good for the trans community. We have a lot of issues in the trans community that are very difficult and very challenging. We have a suicide rate that’s nine times higher than the general public.”

On Wednesday, the NCAA Board of Governors announced that its policy pertaining to the participation of transgender athletes will now differ based on each sport in response to Lia Thomas breaking records in women's athletics.

Jenner is not degrading Thomas' decision but noting that Thomas competing against women is unfair.

" is also not good for women’s sports. It’s unfortunate that this is happening. I don’t know why she’s doing it. She knows when she’s swimming, she’s beating the competition by two laps. She was born as a biological boy. She was raised as a biological boy. Her cardiovascular system is bigger. Her respiratory system is bigger."

Everything Jenner says here is obviously true. Yet so few are willing to say it aloud. ESPN, the world's leading sports network, won't mention the story. Nor will fellow athletes, who often speak up about other so-called social justice issues.

Suffice it to say, Jenner is the most influential voice to speak on the situation so far.

Hopefully, Jenner's comment opens the door for others to speak out because biological men competing in women’s sports is a grave threat to female athletes, but we have our doubts. People in sports are cowards. They are afraid to challenge the in-crowd. And the in-crowd clearly demands silence on transgender athletes.

“We need to protect women’s sports," Jenner concludes. Unfortunately, the "we" here is such a small group.
