Amazon Targeting Marshawn Lynch For Studio Role On 'Thursday Night Football'
Little did anybody know then, but Marshawn Lynch saying "what the f***" on live TV during ESPN's "ManningCast" in October may have landed him another career, post-football retirement.
According to the New York Post's Andrew Marchand, Amazon Prime Video is looking to bring on Lynch for a prominent role on "Thursday Night Football." Lynch, 35, would be part of a studio-type show and conduct interviews. Marchand notes that Lynch could also do reports about the cities the games are taking place in.
Amazon acquired the rights in April to carry all 15 "Thursday Night Football" games and one preseason game each season. The going rate wasn't cheap, as Amazon will pay $1 billion a season for the exclusive rights. The deal begins in fall 2022, with NBC's Al Michaels the leading candidate to be the play-by-play man on the broadcast.
The media giant is reportedly looking to utilize Lynch's sense of humor, as was evident during his appearance on the "ManningCast."
ESPN received two FCC complaints for Lynch's slip-up.
"I had children in the room at the time and I am very upset that ESPN allowed Marshawn Lynch to repeatedly curse on live TV," one viewer complained, via TMZ. "I have an expectation when I turn on ESPN that I will not have to remove children from the room."
