The official numbers are in from Sunday night’s celebration in Los Angeles after the Lakers won the NBA title. What started off as people reacting to LeBron winning a title for Kobe soon turned to “confrontational, violent and destructive behavior,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD reports 76 people were arrested, 30-plus buildings damaged, eight officers were injured and received medical treatment, and two people were injured by “less lethal munitions fired by our officers.”
“Unruly individuals mixed within the crowd began throwing glass bottles, rocks, and other projectiles at officers,” the department said in a statement. “That is when an unlawful assembly was declared, and only a limited number of people complied and began to disperse. A larger portion of the group broke off and began vandalizing businesses while continuing to engage in violent behavior, some aimed at responding officers.”
More than 30 buildings and establishments were damaged during the night, the department reports.

Downtown LA is a lost cause. It’s too bad as the Staples city walk area and downtown were starting to become a nice place before the lockdowns and riots. Hip bars opening and Ritz Carlton opened a new high-rise hotel there. Now, no one wants to go there. Too sketchy.
Hard to say if this is worse than any other city’s championship celebrations.

Agreed. I don’t understand why a celebration would turn violent. I mean a couple fights between high and inebriated fans sure but WTF is this? The world LeBum and his followers want I guess. Meanwhile, her highness lives surrounded by wealthy white people far far away from this kind of stuff.
