Lions Add Darrell Bevell To Coaching Interview List

Interim man Darrell Bevell is interviewing for the Detroit Lions' head coaching vacancy, making him the third known candidate for the gig, as relayed by ESPN's Adam Shefter.

The Lions, of course, are forging ahead with interviews, despite not having hired a general manager yet. That either means they are going about this all wrong, or they already have a GM in mind and that person is telling them whom he likes.

At any rate, Bevell started the season as the Lions' offensive coordinator and then took over for the fired Matt Patricia in late November. The Lions won their first game under Bevell 34-30 over their rivals the Chicago Bears, but they lost four straight after that to close the season.

Bevell served as offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks from 2011-17. He held the same position with the Minnesota Vikings before that.

Lions president Rod Wood has been leading the coaching search. Along with Bevell, the team has interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis.
