'Let's Go Brandon' Now Primary Sponsor For NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver Brandon Brown
***UPDATE*** Further reporting indicates that NASCAR will formally process LGBcoin's sponsorship deal and design with Brandon Brown's team, pending approval.
"Let's go Brandon" started as a meme, shifted to a movement and now has traced back to the man who became famous for it, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brandon Brown.
Brandonbilt Motorsports (BMS) announced Thursday that the cryptocurrency meme coin LGBcoin.io will be the team's primary sponsor for the 2022 season. Brown's No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro will dawn a red, white and blue color scheme with logo and wordmark of LGBcoin.
“We are thrilled to partner with Brandonbilt Motorsports and Brandon Brown for the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season,” said James Koutoulas, founder of Typhoon Capital Management. “Brandon is not only an incredibly talented driver, but also a thoughtful individual wise beyond his years.
"His commitment and singular focus on his profession is inspiring and his personal story is one that we can all be proud of—an American story of success and perseverance. Brandon is truly America’s Driver.”
The phrase became a running meme after Brown won at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 2. While the win was big, it was the post-race interview that became the chief moment. As the crowd began to loudly chant "f*** Joe Biden", NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast incorrectly stated on the telecast that they were chanting "let's go Brandon."
And with that, the new "f*** Joe Biden" was born. The phrase can still be heard at sporting events across the country almost three months later.
“We are proud to support Brandon this season, to help him continue his American dream,” Koutoulas said. “If we do our job right, when you think of us, and you hear, ‘Let’s Go Brandon,’ you’ll think and feel, ‘Let’s Go America.’”
