Lawmakers Want Fauci Gone Amid COVID Flip-Flops

The credibility of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention -- also known as the CDC -- has taken hit after hit in recent weeks. The constantly changing mask guidelines were a starting point, but new questions and information surrounding the origins of COVID-19 have taken criticism to a new level.

"The agency has lost all credibility," said Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marty Makary recently, via Fox News. "They have been consistently delinquent, misrepresenting COVID risk levels. The public sees through the CDC’s flawed guidance on schools, travel and summer camps that use the guise of science. That’s why 52% of Americans no longer trust the CDC."

The message the CDC is trying to relay remains clear, according to Dr. Brett Giroir, the former White House Coronavirus Task Force testing czar. It's just that the CDC has done a horrific job communicating that message.

"The real message is: If you are vaccinated, and not in a special group like the immunosuppressed, it is safe for you and for others around you for you to be without a mask indoors," Giroir said. "But, if you are in areas of significant disease or in a high risk circumstance and you are not vaccinated, it is still safer to wear a mask than not to wear one."

Dr. Anthony Fauci remains at the forefront of all of this controversy.

The man spent months giving absolutely no credence to the idea that the coronavirus could've come from a Wuhan lab. After calling it a conspiracy theory, he's now backtracking and saying that he's "not convinced" that it didn't come from a lab.

Unfortunately, he admitted that only after reports surfaced that three Wuhan lab workers were diagnosed with COVID-like symptoms just before the original outbreak in China.

Changing opinions as new information develops is one thing, but the Wuhan lab theory was available last year and he wouldn't even entertain it. Then President Donald J. Trump had on good authority that there was reason to suspect the virus had come from a Wuhan lab, and yet Fauci ignored him and others at every turn. He deserves all the criticism he gets.

Fauci has also not been transparent enough about developments surrounding mask usage, and many lawmakers are now pushing for him to resign or be fired.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., is one of those making the push, especially after the House of Representative's China Task Force uncovered that $1.1 million of U.S. taxpayer funding had been sent over to the Wuhan Institute of Virology with Fauci's knowledge.

"He has been wrong, intentionally deceptive, and inconsistent throughout this entire pandemic. A few examples of Fauci’s failures include: claiming there was very little risk to Americans in January of 2020, opposing President Trump’s China travel ban then crediting it with saving lives, and wrongly predicting an explosion of cases in Texas after Gov. Abbott lifted the state mask mandates," Reschenthaler said. "It is long past time for Dr. Fauci to stop talking to the American public. Fauci should resign or be fired immediately."

Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, is on board as well, proposing the FIRED Act, which stands for Fauci Incompetence Requires Early Dismissal -- clever, right?

"Dr. Fauci is at odds with the CDC," Davidson recently said. "He has repeatedly put political science ahead of the science on COVID-19."
