What's the worst big-ticket item you've ever purchased?

It's that time of year when impulse buying kicks in gets the best of us, even those who think they're grounded with their money and would never get caught dumping a pile of cash on something that turns out to be a money pit.

I nearly had one of those moments Tuesday on my Tractor Supply trip after laying eyes on the child-size ATVs, mini-bikes and UTVs. I was seconds away from saying, Screw it, she'll get over the fact that I dropped $500 on a mini-bike for the 4-year-old & we ended up having to pay a massive medical bill after his first accident.

Yes, that's not a bunch of money, but it's one of those items that seems like a smart idea at the time and then it turns out to be a problem.

I've also been researching Golden Tee units that are definitely not cheap. It's what I would consider a big-ticket item that I've had my eyes on for years, but there's high level of apprehension running through my body due to a fear that some sort of hard drive will die or I'll have to take the back of the unit apart and it'll be a complete mess.

Let's get the email hotline fired up here. Tell me all about that big-ticket item you bought that turned out to be a disaster. I'm fully prepared to hear all about your first, second, and third wives.

Share some horror stories for those who are tempted to be big spenders this holiday season.

• Speaking of purchases, my wife announced Wednesday that we'd be buying each other new silverware for Christmas. The IKEA silverware that we bought years ago because the kids threw things around the house and there was no need to buy nice everyday stuff are breaking at a fast pace and need to be replaced.

Last year it was pots and pans. This year it's new forks and spoons.

• Dana B. wants to know if charging a Tesla in a flooded Tesla charging station lot built in a floodplain in Woking, UK is a smart idea. Personally, I'm going to let someone else plug in their ride. I'm out.

• For those who were wondering what costume Brent in Indiana went with over the weekend, here's your answer:

I am so lame. I could not get my creative juices to flow and gravitated towards the path of least resistance in order to create our costumes. I suited up in my umpire plate gear, and my wife suited up in my son’s baseball uniform. I am ashamed it was the antithesis of “do hard things”. I am not a creative mind to begin with, so the creations you see attached are works of art, if only in my mind.

• Michigan State fan Michael S. can't stop laughing at this video after that win over Michigan:

• Gerard W. sent me an email and added, "None of this really needs to be put on OutKick." Then Gerard goes on in his email to give me some grill intel that might help some of you guys looking to buy grills. Hey Gerard, you can't be dropping nuggets like this one and expect I'm going to keep it to myself. This is serious intel, brother.

Lastly not sure if you bought the Blackstone or a pellet grill? Ran into someone that has the Weber pellet grill and he said that it will flame up when cooking anything with bacon. The Traeger and most other pellet grills have a grease diverter so there is no open flame. The Weber with an open flame would be a deal-breaker now.

• Less than a month ago, my father and I were just up the road from the National Weather Service office in Gaylord, MI wearing shorts. Look what happened there the other night:

• Mother Nature has finally gotten her act together and went back-to-back with frosts that should do the trick and ramp up the leaves around this part of Ohio. Then it's going to be in the 60s next week. I'm starting to think that means November rounds of golf that I need to get in before the real bad stuff starts to hammer us.

Have a great Thursday and don't forget it's Jets-Colts tonight on Fox. The Mike White era is here.
