Justin Fields Takes Brutal Hit That Knocks Helmet From Head

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields had his "Welcome to the NFL" moment during the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

Bills linebacker Andre Smith delivered a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit on Fields, which knocked his helmet off and his mouthpiece out.

Smith, who was flagged for a roughing the passer penalty on the play, took to social media following the game to apologize to Bears fans personally for the hit on the rookie QB.

"It didn’t really hurt, to be honest with you," Fields said after the game. "I think the one thing that hurt was my helmet coming off and hitting me in the eye. But the actual hit, it wasn’t that crazy."

In the 41-15 preseason loss to the Bills, Fields completed 9-of-19 for 80 yards and ran for an additional 46 yards. The Bills beat the Bears 41-15.
