Jon Lester Bought Chicagoans $47,000 Worth of Miller Lite this Weekend

Jon Lester's days with the Cubs may be over after the team declined their $25 million team option, but he turned the bittersweet occasion into a positive by offering to buy the first round of Miller Lites for anyone who stopped by one of his four favorite city watering holes during the Halloween weekend:




Lester shared the tabs throughout the weekend. He also tipped 34 percent, in line with his jersey number:












ESPN's Jesse Rogers crunched the numbers and revealed that Lester spent $47,000 buying Chicagoans Miller Lite over the weekend. Given that indoor service is suspended indefinitely at Chicago bars and restaurants and winter is coming, this is a nice boost to the tavern economy at a time when businesses have struggled.
