Jimmy G Benched At Halftime As Dolphins Bludgeon The 49ers 43-17

After Jimmy G threw for just 77 yards with two INT's, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan decided to bring in QB C.J. Beathard. With a $137.5 million contract, it's not likely this is anything long-term.

San Francisco really had no choice here as no starting quarterback should be playing down 23 at halftime. Quarterbacks have come back from worse, but Jimmy G wasn't showing any signs of life. He was clearly having a bad day.

One third-and-long stop away from being crowned Super Bowl MVP and now he's on the wrong side of a laugher against Ryan Fitzpatrick. Life really hits you fast. Not that we feel bad for anyone making over $100 million in five years. Losing to the Dolphins still doesn't feel any good.

Coach Shanahan will have plenty of questions to answer about his decision, but this was the right play. No need to get Jimmy hurt trying to lead a team crumbled by injuries. Jimmy is a good player, but he's no superman.
