Jets Turning To Joe Flacco For Dolphins Game

With New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson still out due to injury, it seems like backup quarterback Mike White's time as the starter may be wrapping up.

After Wilson was injured, the Jets re-acquired Joe Flacco in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, OutKick previously reported.

Wilson was injured on a legal hit from New England linebacker Matthew Judon and was expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a sprained PCL sustained in the second quarter of the Week 7 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots.

But with the rookie QB still working through his recovery, the team will look to Flacco as they host the Miami Dolphins.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that one of the reasons Flacco was brought in was specifically for situations like this, where the teams desperately needed veteran expriece.

"Miami's got a dynamic coverage system ... with all the different coverages they run," Saleh said Wednesday afternoon. "Joe's been there, done that. He's a steadying experience that we felt would put us in the best position to win. This is why we brought in Joe, for situations like this."

Saleh said White, who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, will serve as the backup.

The Jets (2-7) will host the Dolphins (3-7) in Sunday's Week 11 matchup with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. EST.
