Jets Expected To Fire Adam Gase, Try To Pull 'Blockbuster' Trade

The New York Jets have been playing out the string for quite some time, and while they won two straight heading into Sunday's season-finale, a coaching change is highly likely on the way.

But that's not all. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Jets "are expected to make a big trade this offseason." That trade, Schefter reports, could even involve the No. 2 overall draft pick -- presuming the Jets decide to stick with third-year quarterback Sam Darnold.

"Whole question is whether they trade QB Sam Darnold or the No. 2 pick to a team that intends to draft a QB," Schefter wrote. "But GM Joe Douglas will be executing some sort of big trade, amongst their many moves."

Along with that, multiple reports suggest coach Adam Gase will be a goner shortly after the season, perhaps as soon as Monday. Gase addressed that talk earlier this week.

“I learned when I was 22 years old, Nick Saban told me, ‘You do your job until somebody tells you different,'" Gase said. "That’s what I’m going to focus on.”

Should the Jets decide to keep the pick, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields very well could be on their radar.

And should the Jets take Fields, the potential blockbuster deal could involve Darnold. So, yes, next season and the big decisions involving it have already begun in New York.
