Saints QB Jameis Winston Exits Game With Apparent Leg Injury

UPDATE: The Saints have declared it a left knee injury. Winston was later declared out.

Saints quarterback Jameis Winston left Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an apparent high ankle sprain, per OutKick's ProFootballDoc.

After scrambling out of a broken pocket, Winston was horse-collar tackled by Bucs linebacker Devin White and unable to stand on his own afterwards.

Dr. Chao detailed the injury: "Winston was running to the left when his jersey was grabbed from behind by a Tampa Bay defender and stepped awkwardly on his left leg."

After being evaluated in the blue medical tent, Winston was carted to the locker room.

Saints backup Trevor Siemian was called in to play for Winston. Taysom Hill was declared out for Week 8's matchup: a concerning injury timeline several weeks after suffering a concussion.

Jameis left the game with 6 of 10 passes completed, 56 yards and a touchdown to Tre'Quan Smith. The Drew Brees successor appears to be done for the day.
