The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded QB Gardner Minshew to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2022 sixth-round pick, the team announced Saturday.

The sixth-round pick could rise to a fifth-rounder if Minshew is involved in 50% of the plays in three games this season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

In 2020, Minshew saw action in nine games on the season, starting in eight and completing 21-of-327 passes for 16 TDs and a passer rating of 95.9. His passer rating of 95.9 ranks as the second-highest in franchise history by a quarterback with at least 300 attempts, according to a news release.

Minshew had been alternating practice days with the first-team offense with Lawrence throughout training camp, where he completed 17-of-29 passes for 196 yards with two interceptions — with one in the end zone — in two preseason games.

Minshew has completed 501-of-797 career passes for 5,530 yards with 37 TDs and 11 interceptions.

Minshew joins an Eagles QB room that includes Jalen Hurts and veteran Joe Flacco. The Eagles released Nick Mullens after the trade was announced.

  1. I don’t get this trade. Minshew is a great backup option and a cultural fit for Jacksonville. It’s a lateral move for him but I suppose it gives him a better shot at becoming a starter if Hurts doesn’t perform. Not sure how a future 6th round pick helps the Jags.
