Jaguars Coach Urban Meyer Says Drafting Trevor Lawrence The 'Direction We're Going'

Urban Meyer has been talked about a lot this offseason. He comes to Jacksonville to be the new head coach of the Jaguars, a team that won just one game in 2020.

Meyer is going to need a new quarterback in order to turn things around, and the quarterback that the new Jags coach appears to want is Trevor Lawrence of Clemson.

There's no question that Lawrence is the pick of the litter at the quarterback spot, and it's almost as if Coach Meyer is already preparing to have the rookie QB start on Day One.

Meyer was not shy when speaking to NBC Sports' Peter King about Lawrence and the quarterback situation in Jacksonville.

"I'd have to say the direction we're going," Meyer told King. "I'll leave that up to the owner when we make that decision official. But I'm certainly not stepping out of line that that's certainly the direction we're headed."

There hasn't been a ton of drama around the first pick in the draft. From the moment Meyer got the job to be the team's new head coach, he has had his sights set on Lawrence.

Unless there's a massive shift or something unexpected comes down the pike, Lawrence will continue to draw praise from his future coach down in Florida.
