DC Mayor Muriel Bowser officiated and attended a wedding Saturday night with “hundreds” of unmasked guests after re-imposing the city’s indoor mask mandate.
The Washington Examiner reported that the Saturday night wedding and reception took place at The LINE DC, a hotel in the city’s Adams Morgan neighborhood.
In addition to hundreds of unmasked guests at the reception, Bowser was also observed unmasked — the outlet reports the mayor was not actively eating or drinking, as the reinstated guidelines set by the DC Department of Health over the weekend required.
On Friday, Bowser announced the return of the indoor mask mandate, effective in the city Saturday, noting the uptick in local cases. The mandate requires masks to be worn indoors with few exceptions.
The Examiner also published a photo appearing to show Bowser sitting at a table maskless with other maskless guests — Insider reached out to representatives for Bowser and The LINE DC, who did not immediately return requests for comment.
Over the past week, DC reported an average of 57 new COVID-19 cases each day, Insider reports, according to data analyzed by The New York Times. The city was reporting an average of 9 new cases a week at the end of June, according to the same data.

First of all, thanks Mayor Bowser for showing everyone just how seriously we need to take these mandates. This has already turned to a sequel of what progressive leaders all over the country got caught doing last year. The public has seen this movie before and we know how it ends.

More proof that these politicians who impose mask mandates know masks don’t work against the coronavirus. They would have masks surgically attached to themselves if they really worked because they are the biggest cowards in our country.
No one is going to comply with these. They are terrified they are losing control. There is only so much even the most agreeable folks are before they say no.
