Instagram School Teacher Joleen Diaz Preps For Thanksgiving, Mexican Soccer Player Has A Hickey & A Flying Knee Knockout

Guys, I've hit a very important milestone in my life -- I now have my very own recliner

Friday night was a very big moment in my life where the furniture delivery truck pulls up just before 8 ET to bring in a recliner that's been stuck on a container from China. We bought one of these recliners with our basement couch and it didn't fit correctly, so our backup plan was to get a matching recliner for our family room.

That's right, I've officially hit the age to where I'm now a recliner owner. 2-3 years ago I wouldn't even think of owning a recliner. The sofa was just fine. Plus, I was spending 14 hours a day at the Most Valuable Blogger command center you see behind the boys.

Then something happened. I can't pinpoint it, but all of a sudden a recliner bolt of lightning hit me and now we have matching recliners in the family room right next to the fireplace...that will be blazing hot later today...and I'm about to start living the recliner lifestyle.

Does it mean I'm getting old or I'm just seeking comfort on those days when Do Hard Things kicks my ass? Is this the point where I build a nest next to the recliner with crossword puzzles and stacks of remotes? Is this the stage where I start yelling at the TV and the kids think I've lost my marbles? Will I be sleeping in my chair when the boys sneak in from a night of drinking?

Is there a recliner psychologist out there who can dig into my brain to help me out here? Are these logical thoughts for a first-time recliner owner?

• Received a message today from my mom in Largo, Florida where she's helping run a 24-team scramble at the private 9-hole course in the park where she lives. As you guys know, I run the Put-In-Bay two-man, two-club invitational and that's craziness with 32 guys on 9 holes. Mom said there's a total of 118 players going off at today's event. I can't even imagine the bitching and moaning out of the retirees waiting on the tee boxes. That sounds like absolute torture for event organizers. Good luck, mom.

• Don L. in Gilbert, AZ is back bragging about his weather. I'll say this -- the Southern Division of TNML really perked up once it got below 95 & the humidity dropped below 90% in Florida. Now it's a constant stream of Dons and Toms telling me that they haven't stopped mowing on Thursdays. SMH!!!

Don writes:

I know the TNML season is shut down, but the AZ winter league has traded their Burmuda for Rye and still representing.

• In all seriousness, I love hearing from the TNML Southern Conference because it brightens days like today where it's 40, cloudy, rain/snow mix here in NW Ohio. Keep the sunny pics coming to brighten the mood for those of us stuck in the Northern Conference.

• It looks like we could have a beef developing between Mike in Pasadena and Dave M. in Ohio after Friday's Screencaps where Dave mentioned the Thursday Night Blowing League and how his wife handles mowing duties.

Is it me - or do you not have to throw a flag on Dave M. ?!

His wife is cutting the grass??  When? After she takes out the trash!   I'm old school... if she needs exercise get her a treadmill... (occasionally sure I get it..it's sunny out she wants a tan..ok)

Can you imagine...garage beers, meat on the grill...and dude breaks out "My wife cuts the grass"  LMAO....jokes for weeks...

Blowing leaves into an adjacent property?  Another flag...

Not putting screens on your gutters (when clearly you need them)? Another flag...

I must believe you posted Dave's email for this kind of feedback... I CANNOT be the only one thinking this...

• I'll let these two take the war of words to the next level, if they wish. I will say this in Dave M's defense -- he's not the only husband out there whose wife handles the mowing. I heard from numerous guys who will handle the trimming while the wife jumps on the zero-turn.

Email: joekinsey@gmail.com .... if you wish to get a word in on this developing Screencaps beefage.

• Beau in Toledo couldn't let Dave's Thursday Night Blowing League email go without commenting:

Greetings Commissioner Kinsey!

I regret to inform You, that after a few preemptive emails from my #TNML Sponsors, i will not be able to join Dave M.'s #TNbL due to, um, prior engagements.

However, i would like to let everyone know that there are a few charitable Fall Tournaments, most notably the @husqvarnausa Pro 2Cycle PowerBroom Fall Classic, and the #MTD #FrankenVac Invitational. (Invitational, bc the neighbors w the most trees invite You to drink their beer if You vac their leaves)

Both tourneys are oddly held in the days AFTER the @city_of_toledo (dumbest logo EVER, btw) makes their first pass with the leaf-vac trucks.

Entry fees can be sent to support.woundedwarriorproject.org or t2t.org

Also… Who's got Apple Pie Shots?!?

• Mike T. & Cindy T. in Idaho fired up the massive pit last night to burn some wood and celebrate this great life they've created for themselves. We're inching closer to Mike T. lighting up a Christmas tree in that pit.

• And finally this morning, a message from Indy Daryl:

Joe,

Good morning and happy Saturday! I wanted to say thank you for giving time and space to current active duty and former military members to share their stories. It was an absolute honor and pleasure to read about the variety of ways they have served our country. They truly Do Hard Things every day and I am so grateful for their service. Thank you to each one of them!

And while I do love getting out and attacking life, one of my favorite things is sitting around a fire. For many years we have had one of the cheap, Target variety stands that got the job done but wasn’t anything special. Recently, a couple of friends had mentioned they owned a SoloStove unit and loved it. We were at a party and got to experience one first hand and let me tell ya, it was awesome. The lack of smoke was a revelation. We were hooked! We bought one this past week and were able to set it up and use it last night. Their “Stand” allows it to be set up on flammable surfaces like our brand new deck. Even in the driving wind and slight mist, Mrs. Do Hard Things and I got a delightfully warm fire going.

To that end, I cannot more highly recommend any of the SoloStove products! They are definitely pricey, but totally worth it. And they are currently on super sale, and wanted to let the Screencaps community know.

Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

Also saw this bumper sticker and laughed out loud last night:

• And with that, it's time to get this Saturday rolling. Enjoy that Big Ten football and A&M at Ole Miss. Snow could be flying across Big Ten country where some of us will be hunkered down in front of fireplaces from noon to midnight watching pigskin and eating like pigs.

Go have yourself a day and hit up the email hotline with whatever you see out there.

Thank you for your supporting the Screencaps community.
