Packers Not Interested In Bringing Back LB Matthews

It's been a quiet offseason for former Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who continues to look around for a new (or old) team to play for in 2021.

Matthews, who last played with the Los Angeles Rams, made 37 tackles to go along with eight sacks in 2019, not bad numbers at all for a veteran player.

For now though, Matthews still does not have work, and a couple players in Green Bay are pushing for the team to re-sign him.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and David Bakhtiari have all lobbied the Pack to sign Matthews, but have had no luck so far.

Sunday, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Green Bay has "had no discussions" about signing the linebacker back to the squad.

Though he hasn't played for Green Bay since 2018, Matthews remains a favorite with Packers fans. After all, he played 10 seasons with the franchise and helped them win a Super Bowl over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.

The current linebacker depth chart for the Packers includes the following players: De'Vondre Campbell Ty Summers, De'Jon Harris, Isaiah McDuffie, Krys Barnes, Oren Burks and Kamal Martin
