Do as I say, not as I do. Sadly, that’s the approach some political “leaders” take to governing.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is one who has repeatedly chosen that approach. Last month, she was caught taking a trip to Florida after blaming travel to and from the state for the recent COVID outbreak in Michigan.
Now she’s been caught again.
On Sunday, a photo was leaked of Whitmer and several of her friends at a dive bar in East Lansing, violating her own coronavirus restrictions. Those restrictions were just set in place on May 15, so apparently they don’t apply to her.
Here’s a snippet from those restrictions:
“Gatherings are prohibited at food service establishments, whether indoor or outdoor, unless: Consumption of food or beverages is permitted only in a designated dining area where patrons are seated, groups of patrons are separated by at least 6 feet, no more than 6 patrons are seated together (at a table, booth, or group of fixed seats), and groups of patrons do not intermingle.”
Yeah, Gretchen and her weekend crew didn’t follow any of that. This was an incredibly hypocritical move, and she knows it. She acknowledged her mistake, but folks, we need to forgive her apparently. She just “didn’t stop to think about it.”
“Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been committed to following public health protocols. Yesterday, I went with friends to a local restaurant. As more people arrived, the tables were pushed together. Because we were all vaccinated, we didn’t stop to think about it,” she said in a statement, via Breitbart News.
“In retrospect, I should have thought about it,” she added. “I am human. I made a mistake, and I apologize.”

I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty convincing. It’s only the second time in as many months that Whitmer has been caught not following her own public directives behind the scenes, but what does that matter? She just didn’t think about it, right?
She’s allowed to make a mistake. But remember, almost every other Michigan resident isn’t afforded that same opportunity.

Why are people afraid to stand up to “dick-tators” like her. Take you mask off, walk into your favorite greasy spoon and order. I live and Texas and i’m still amazed at how many young people wear masks at grocery store. Grow a pair.
Agreed. I live in Virginia which is now a blue state but where I live there are plenty of people who got rid of their masks. I visited West Virginia recently and loved seeing people’s faces. Trump lost the charade is over let’s move on now.
Hello Michigan. Look at what this wretch has done to your state. She’s had the populace locked down as businesses have closed and livelihoods have been lost. Yet for Whitmer and her cronies, life goes on. You can bet that her only regret in all of this is that she got caught. This governor, like Cuomo in NY does not appear to possess an ounce of shame and will not resign. Thanks again Governor Whitmer illustrating just how seriously this whole situation needs to be taken.

Just like Newsom out in California. A left wing governor ignores their own demands for everybody else, gets caught, and comes up with some cock and bull story about how they intended just a small intimate gathering which miraculously turned into large party and were completely unaware of who all was attending.
Was thinking Whitmer looked at Newsom and said, “Hold my beer.”
The larger point is that governors like Whitmer impose these draconian lockdowns on their states to “save lives” because the coronavirus “is a killer” as Illinois Governor Pritzker likes to say but they don’t follow their own lockdowns because they don’t believe the danger is all that great.
These cowardly politicians would be hiding under their beds if they really believed it was a killer. It’s not so much hypcorisy as it is the lie they tell about the coronavirus. They know it has a 99.8% survival rate which is why they ignore their own lockdowns.
It has never been about public safety. It has always been about control. And the sheep continue to follow their orders because the politicans have scared the sheep into believing they will die if they get the coronavirus.
Could not agree more. As a Californian, watching Prince Gavin tell us that schools needed to be closed or kids would die and parents who wanted schools open were heartless maniacs, WHILE HE SENT HIS OWN KIDS TO PRIVATE SCHOOL, was a huge slap in the face to everyone else

There is just no accountability for these folks and unfortunately their own voters just ignore it all and keep re-electing these folks. They deserve what they elect. The voter’s will have their chance to make their feelings known, but unfortunately too many will either just push the status quo or not even care enough to vote. I don’t see how any of these bonehead governors like Whitmer, Cuomo, Newsome can win re-election, but that’s just my old fashioned take…it involves common sense which is in short supply these days.
That excuse might fly with Joe 6-Pack who’s just trying to manage COVID rules to get through the day – but for Whitmer these rules have been the focus of her life and job the past 14 months. No way she gets to be conveniently forgetful – her decision was willful and blatantly hypocritical. Not that I’m at all surprised…
Whitmer will get re elected just like Newsome and perhaps Cuomo. People in these states are dopes who believe these politicians when they say will will make your life better because will will give you all free shit (at the expense, of course, of middle class working people).
The know there is a voting backlash coming in 2022… so the plan is to amnesty a zillion illegal crossers to try to correct for that. There is a reason we don’t have a border anymore
Michiganders today aren’t the ones of old. The liberals run all the major metro areas including Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and they outnumber the rural Patriots by a significant margin. They think Whitmer is doing a good job handling the virus. She’s as incompetent and corrupt as Xiden but the sheep love her. We moved back after 30 years being gone but were outta here next year. Moving south to Florida full time.
