Rory McIlroy Will Play Phoenix Open For First Time In His Career

For the first time ever, Rory McIlroy will play in the Phoenix Waste Management Open. He's the second big name who has decided to play after word came that Jason Day would also make his return. Now, we're hoping to god they allow patrons to the event.

A little insider info from me since I used to work for the valet service at Waste Management: They're already booked to work this year's event, so that's a solid indicator Scottsdale is about to be a distanced madhouse. Ugh.

Rory normally plays in Dubai early February, but now that event has been cancelled. So, here comes the No. 7 player in the world, the most accurate driver, to do some damage in Arizona, where the ball flies.

We heard him talk about over-thinking his golf swing at major tournaments earlier this year, and now we can expect him to let it loose. If he's still in his head in Scottsdale, which is possible, maybe he can poach a beverage on the 16th tee box?

Now that Robinhood punched us all in the face this morning, count on investors to put some big coin on Rory. One of the more likable characters in golf finally embraces the people's tournament. We can't wait.
