Introducing UGA's Brielle Becker, John Daly Opens Up On Parenting & Johnny Jumps Off A Yacht
If we're not having fun and escaping from life for a minute, I'm not doing my job
I wanted to address something that was sent to me Monday morning by a Northwest Ohio reader because it continues to be what we're striving for with this Screencaps series.
"Thanks for writing about stuff for us normal dudes. It’s fun and light-hearted and helps us know we’re not too serious to enjoy a good laugh at our own expense," Jonathan said on a Twitter DM.
You know, that's the only validation I need at this job. Sure, it was nice to hear the boss, Clay, mention my name Tuesday night on Will Cain's Fox News show, and there were people who immediately let me know the big news. It's still incredibly bizarre to speak on national radio to hundreds of thousands of listeners when Clay has me on his show, and it's beyond bizarre to hear my name mentioned on a Fox show watched by millions around the world. Most of this out-of-body stuff won't register in my mind until years later when I look back and comprehend the scale of what has happened during my Internet career.
But if I'm being completely honest and genuine, I have to say, hearing Jonathan say thanks for this nonsense I come up with in Caps or throughout the day on the blog is invigorating. Humbling. Grounding. Etc.
My Internet mission remains the same as it has been for over a decade: help people escape from lives that are hard, jobs they hate, horrible medical situations, marriages that are failing, and all the stress that comes with the daily grind.
Don't forget that you all play a role in this. Keep making it fun. Send in the content that others will enjoy. Let me see what's going on out there in your world. Send in your patio playlists. Let me see that project you completed. And pass the word that normal guys are hanging out here having a good laugh and trying our best to enjoy life.
• I'm doing a Saturday morning...OutKick VIP Zoom session...11 a.m. ET. Lock it in. Let's talk America returning to normal, the birth of the Thursday Night Mowing League and whatever else is on your mind.
• Lumber prices are dropping! How long will it take until you start to see price changes at the box stores? Kyle runs a lumber company. Follow him for the latest industry news.
• You guys getting sick of no-hitters yet? There have now been five no-hitters this season, and it's just the second time in MLB history that there have been five no-nos before June. The other time it was done? 1917. Honestly, I'm rooting for Ohtani to throw a no-hitter and hit three home runs in a game. By the way, if you aren't paying attention to what Ohtani is doing and you have even an ounce of baseball appreciation in your blood, shame on you. Scroll down to see his latest bomb. I'm sure the baseball nerds will devalue him in some way, but around here, we devalue the baseball nerds. Suck it, baseball nerds!
• And finally this morning, I can't believe I'm saying this, but the kids will be swimming when they get home from school. I'll be attaching the patio TV to the mount, and we're about to enter a stretch of 90-degree weather. I'm smiling from ear to ear.
