America’s Back! Gallery Closing In On Phil Mickelson At The PGA Championship Is Everything We Need Right Now

If you got to join in on the action following Phil Mickelson’s performance on Sunday — sealing his second PGA Championship victory — then you probably noticed the 6 inches of social distancing between the spectators there.

And thank the ghost of Walter Hagen that crowds were fearlessly present.

The PGA Championship announced it would open Ocean Course at Kiawah Island to host a gathering of 10,000 spectators for each round. The crowd present on Sunday did what a group of people huddled into a tight space at a sporting event is supposed to do: spark up some energy and cause a stir along the way.

America’s back, baby!

Sunday wasn't just a win for Phil Mickelson, who at 50 broke the record for oldest champion to win a major, but for the return of crowds and a summer devoid of COVID hysteria.

As the weekend progressed and more golf was played, more and more sports stadiums announced that they will be opening to full capacity in the coming weeks. Every venue across the nation is expected to be open by June 15.
