Giants Players Lose It On Twitter Over Jalen Hurts Benching, Eagles Loss

They did it, and we all know why they did it.

The Philadelphia Eagles unexpectedly benched their rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts on Sunday night against the Washington Football Team. Up to that point, the game had been competitive, and there was no logical reason to make the switch.

Well, except for the fact that it improved the team's draft position and simultaneously hurt the New York Giants. That last part might be a bit of a stretch, but it did prevent the Giants from making the playoffs.

Whatever Doug Pederson's (or whoever is calling the shots in Philadelphia) reasons were, it looked purposeful. And Giants players ... yeah, they thought so too. Several even took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.

We'll start with wide receiver Darius Slayton, who had to work through a few things publicly over the mind-blowing decision.

Slayton wasn't the only one. Several other players from New York weighed in as well, including Blake Martinez, Saquon Barkley and Golden Tate.

All of the above reactions are understandable. Twitter was lighting up as we witnessed those events unfold. And we can imagine that it's going to get worse as we learn how the Eagles try and justify the decision.

The game ended with the scoreboard showing 20-14 in favor of Washington. Hurts finished with only a 35-percent completion rate while throwing for 72 yards and an interception. But he also added 34 yards and two scores on the ground.

It was nice to see Washington's starting quarterback, Alex Smith, back out there.

The longtime NFL quarterback was responsible for both of Washington's two touchdowns on the night, and he has all but solidified his status as the league's Comeback Player of the Year.

Now we get to see a 7-9 Football Team try to advance in the playoffs. That should be a blast, right?

Here is a look at the Wild Card playoff schedule set to start next weekend.
