Georgia Handles Missouri, As The Dawgs Defense Takes Care Of Business

Videos by OutKick

It wasn’t the normal way toward victory for Georgia on Saturday, but it’s always good to mix things up a bit. As Missouri traveled into Athens, they were hoping to just keep this thing somewhat close on the scoreboard, which they ended up failing at. But, they did take the Bulldogs out of their element at times today, especially running the football.

Mind you, Georgia can beat you in so many different ways, which is what they did in the 43-6 win today. Stetson Bennett got the nod again and went 13-19 for 255 yards and 2 TD’s. It was a nice performance for the Dawgs’ starting quarterback, as he was the main factor today, besides the defense.

In a surprising twist, Georgia either didn’t feel like trying to rush the ball much or they decided to take the day off. Either way, they only had 125 yards rushing at the 8:00 mark of the 4th quarter. Georgia did a nice job of getting Zamir White some rest, as he only carried the ball 9 times today and James Cook had only 9 attempts as well. It was easy to notice that Georgia was trying to build a  comfortable lead and get out of this game without injury.

There was actually a time where Georgia was trailing, down 3-0 in the first quarter. The Dawgs responded with a touchdown drive of 11 plays, 75 yards and finished it with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Arian Smith. It was all Dawgs after that drive.

Missouri entered the game averaging 452 yards of total offense, but they hadn’t played the Georgia defense yet.

Tyler Badie only rushed for 41 yards, while Missouri only passed for a total of 87 yards. The Georgia defense held another team without a touchdown, which is why they lead the nation in scoring defense. Only giving up 5 TD’s all season, while scoring 3 TD’s themselves.

Missouri was so desperate to score on this Georgia defense they called two timeouts with just under :25 seconds to play, as they had the ball at the Dawgs 2-yard line. Georgia held the Tigers without a touchdown, keeping them at six points. This might’ve been the loudest crowd reaction of the day.

Even without Adam Anderson, who is currently being investigated for a rape allegation, the Georgia defense was dominating.

On the backup front, JT Daniels made an appearance in the second half, getting the nod in the 3rd quarter. He passed for 78 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception, knocking the rust off a bit as the Dawgs will no doubt need him down the stretch.

There is no question this Georgia football team will be tested a bit more next week in Knoxville, but this team is the best in the country for a reason. Today was just another example of their dominance, even if it was against Missouri.

Good luck to the rest of college football, at least for now.
