With the future of Ben Roethlisberger still in doubt, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking at the quarterback spot closely and have now officially signed Washington Football Team first-round pick Dwayne Haskins.
Washington dumped Haskins with one game left in the regular season after an awful 2020 campaign.
Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson and Steelers receiver Chase Claypool were among those to offer congrats to Haskins for his new opportunity.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback went 1-5 as a starter in 2020 for Washington and 3-10 overall in two seasons as starter.

Washington took Haskins with the 15th overall pick in the draft in 2019. At the time, they thought he could be their quarterback of the future.
He initially showed signs of promise in his rookie season, throwing for 1365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
However, Haskins struggled badly in 2020. He carried a QB rating of just 30.7 and threw for 1439 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The 23-year-old from Highland Park, N.J., also got in trouble off the field this season, as he was pictured at a strip club not wearing a mask.

The Steelers have to be thinking about the future at the quarterback spot. Not only is Roethlisberger 38 years old, but he also played poorly in the final month of the season.
The Steelers have Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs behind Roethlisberger currently, but the team will likely be on the lookout for a young quarterback with Roethlisberger entering the final year of his contract.
Haskins would be an interesting fit for the black and gold. He’s got talent and could fit in nicely if he can put what happened in 2020 behind him.
The quarterback also recently spoke to the Carolina Panthers, another team that could use a quarterback moving forward.
We been talkin bout this … welcome to the family🙏🏾 https://t.co/9nKwhRnNQB

Steelers… Just Say Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo….
I hope they sign him in order to motivate me to fully divorce myself from Steelers fandom.
Got that lawyer ready? They’ve signed him to a 1-year deal officially.
Calling in the am. This franchise is trying to become the Bengals.
Same here.
TOmlin is losing his mind.
‘The 23-year-old from Highland Park, NJ also got in trouble off the field this season, as he was pictured at a strip club not wearing a mask.’
Such a 2020 statement.
Redskins
Tomlin has enough problems… please don’t sign this clown.
Ben Roethlisberger
Mason Rudolph
Dwayne Haskins
Joshua Dobbs
If that’s the QB position going into next season (only 3 on active roster), then the hometown boy-GM, Kevin Colbert (who’s also been on 1-yr contracts), will be gone. Tomlin is as secure as Andy Reid, but his 2008 season 1 Super Bowl win is 12 years ago now. Using up that football capital, and Steeler Nation goodwill, pretty quickly now. Wonder if Tony Dungy would consider coming outta retirement after 2021 season?
Don’t know about Dungy, but Tomlin has ridden that SB wave far enough. Tomlin probably thinks he can “save” Haskins.
Steelers taking a huge gamble! Everyone deserves a second chance so maybe Haskins thrives under strong leadership and oversight by Tomlin and Big Ben…
Got to like a guy run out of town for shenanigans with strippers in one town referencing the bible in his next town.
i don’t think this guy has the intangibles and dont think this will pan out but you can’t knock them for taking a flyer on the guy.
