Former NFL OL Eugene Chung Told In Coaching Interview This Summer He’s ‘Not Really A Minority’

Videos by OutKick

In what could be described only as a ‘bizarre’ interview, former NFL offensive linemen Eugene Chung says that he’s been told he’s ‘not really a minority’ in an NFL interview this offseason.

Chung’s parents are both Korean.

Not only was Chung told that he’s ‘not really a minority,’ but that he wasn’t the ‘right minority’ to be hired in the National Football League.

“I was like, ‘Wait a minute. The last time I checked, when I looked in the mirror and brushed my teeth, I was a minority,’” Chung said via the Boston Globe.

“So I was like, ‘What do you mean I’m not a minority?’

Chung did the right thing by not letting folks know or announcing who the team was that is in question that said that he wasn’t the ‘right minority.’

“I’m not sitting here bashing the league at all, because there are great mentors and there are great coaches that embrace the difference,” Chung said.

“It’s just when the Asians don’t fit the narrative, that’s where my stomach churns a little bit.”

Knowing the ongoing jabs that it seems that minorities, more so Korean minorities, are taking in the United States, having Chung take a comment like that and simply let it go (or at least appear so) is a very noble thing to do.

  1. So, this guy *wants* to be a minority? Is it some kind of treasured status?
I thought it was horrible to be a minority in this “white devil” nation. If true, people would avoid “minority status” like the plague….instead, they covet the label.
    Weird world.
Elizabeth Warren understood this 40+ years ago, as she deemed herself a minority in order to get a leg up over her white competitors.
And yet, these same people have the gall to chant “white privilege!!!”???
We are living in an insane, Monty Python Skit, dream.
