Florida Man BBQ Restaurant Owner Arrested For Beating Up His Girlfriend's Son Over His Yelp Reviews

It's been too long since the last time I dabbled in the world of Florida Man, so imagine my excitement when a friend sent this one to me. We have a 60-year-old Florida Man who's trying to run a barbeque joint called Georgia Boy's Bar B-Que in Oldsmar, Florida.

Daniel Ahrens was so fired up over a couple of one-star Yelp reviews that he confronted the person who allegedly left them: his girlfriend's 25-year-old son. Ahrens is accused of confronting his girlfriend's son and striking him "several times while the victim covered his face with his arms," according to the police report.

Police note Ahrens allegedly called the man “several times in regards to ‘wanting to beat his ass.’"

The reviews that apparently sent Ahrens into a rage include this one from 'Sean R.': "I wouldn't call this barbecue...hell, I wouldn't even feed it to my dog." In another review, a 'Rick R.' says Georgia Boy's has the "worst customer service in Florida."

It's interesting how these reviews sent Ahrens into a rage considering a review of his restaurant on Yelp and other social media outlets shows sporadic one-star reviews. There's clearly more to this story, especially after looking at the joint's Facebook page where there is all sorts of other Florida-style drama.

You combine the state of Florida, a contentious political season, a triggered restaurant owner and bad Yelp reviews, and you're bound to have fireworks in 2020. I need everyone to relax and get a big plate of pulled pork. (I'm not sure if Daniel is out of jail yet. You'll want to call ahead.) Get yourself a pan of cornbread, butter it up and suck down some fresh air. Clear the head and get yourself ready for another week of battling society.

Let's do this, Florida!
