Two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, arguably the new face of the NBA, had one of the most dominant Finals games in league history. Giannis stuffed the stat sheet with 50 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. For his performance, The Greek Freak was named Finals MVP. Khris Middleton chipped in 17 points and Jrue Holiday agitated Phoenix with his pesky defense.
Giannis, speaking a second language, says something more profound here than most athletes ever will in their first language. NBA would be smart to abandon LeBron and make him the face of the league. pic.twitter.com/Z3VO3Ux3s4
Phoenix, which held a 47-42 halftime lead, was led by their dynamic backcourt duo of Chris Paul and Devin Booker, who combined for 45 points and 10 assists. With the loss, the Suns remain one of just 11 active NBA franchises that have never won a title.
More than 17,000 fans watched the Bucks finish off the Suns inside the arena, while another 65,000 celebrated outside in Milwaukee’s “Deer District.”
