Thousands Of Bikers Arrive At 2-Year-Old Flooding Victim's Memorial

Flooding has caused extensive damage throughout Middle Tennessee. The natural disaster has affected families in Humphreys County, including the grieving family of Kellen Burrow-Vaughn, a 2-year-old child who tragically passed in the flooding.

With a memorial set to honor Kellen's memory, grandfather Allen Burrow — an avid biker — invited several of his fellow motorcyclists to escort the hearse carrying his late grandson.

The young boy's family was stunned by an emotional scene that ensued at the memorial when thousands of bikers arrived in Humphreys County to honor Kellen.

According to the Tennessean, Allen shared a love for bikes with his grandson. "He's kind of like me," expressed Allen. "Just every time you hear a bike, you look around, see who it is, see if you know him. He just loved seeing bikes."

Support for the family was extended through social media when the hashtag #RideForKellen began to trend.

Also noted in the report was the tragic scene that led to boy's passing on Aug. 21 when swelling waters stripped a young Kellen from his mother's arms. The mother had been struggling to evade the floodwater overtaking their apartment in Waverly. As she tried to escape the grounds, floodwater overwhelmed the mother and took Kellen. The boy's body was discovered days later.

Both national and local outreach have attempted to console the family. The memorial became a scene unlike anything observed, with people around Humphreys County recalling the magnitude of support from the sight of the thousands of bikers.

"It was a national news story that this little boy likes bikes," commented Humphreys County Depute Mike Webb. "His family wanted a turnout. Well, he got at turnout."
