ESPN's Stephen A. Smith Says Cowboys, Texans Should Trade Starting Quarterbacks

The NFL has already seen one big QB trade this offseason. The Los Angeles Rams acquired Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions for Jared Goff and a number of draft picks.

With rumors about other QB movements around the league, one ESPN analyst is calling for a trade between Houston and Dallas.

The analyst is the always outspoken Stephen A. Smith, who on Thursday on the network's show First Take said that he could see a deal that would send Texans QB Deshaun Watson to the Cowboys for QB Dak Prescott.

Here's a clip of the video from Thursday on ESPN:

Last season, Prescott played on a one-year deal under the franchise tag, making just over $30 million, and Dallas has already said they want to bring Prescott back in 2021, even if they must do so under the franchise tag again.

If a Prescott/Watson trade actually happens though, it might just go down as the biggest in NFL history. However, there are some things that would need to get sorted out beforehand.

First off, Prescott needs a long term deal, and the Cowboys would need to get something on paper before they go offering the quarterback to another team.

Then there's Watson's current deal with Houston, a four-year, $156 million dollar contract.

Prescott is 27 years old, while Watson is 25, so age isn’t a huge issue when it comes to making a deal.

The move sounds more like a fantasy football deal, but times are changing in the NFL. It will be interesting to see whether any such huge deals take place this offseason, or whether sports pundits just like to imagine that they will.
