If you’re looking for a football coach to equivocate about the coronavirus and express optimism but not certainty that this season will be played, Ed Orgeron is not your guy. Rather, he is expressing certitude about LSU football. Brody Miller of The Athletic documents:

Imagine yourself in biblical Egypt after the 10th plague. A reporter contacts Ed Orgeron for comment: “You call us at midnight, we’ll play in a pasture.”

It’s not totally up to him, and while I’m not one hundred percent confident in the implication from Orgeron that SEC Football is playing come hell or high water, I would indeed bet on it.
