Dolphins Try And Bolster Offensive Line

Videos by OutKick

At one time, there were some draft pundits out there who thought Greg Little would be the next great offensive tackle out of Ole Miss. Just a few years before that, fellow Rebel Laremy Tunsil had entered the league and eventually turned into a star blindside protector.

Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out that way for Little.

The former second-round pick spent the last two seasons struggling to work his way up the depth chart with the Carolina Panthers. And on Tuesday, the team finally gave up and shipped him off to the Miami Dolphins for a measly 2022 seventh-round pick.

So now, for the second straight year, Miami has traded a late-round pick to bring in a former SEC offensive tackle. Last year, they brought in former Georgia right tackle Isaiah Wilson after one failed season with the Tennessee Titans. He didn’t work out any better for the Dolphins.

For the Panthers, getting rid of Little was the right move. He was listed as the third-team offensive tackle, and it was looking like he wouldn’t make the final 53-man roster.

For the Dolphins, this is a complete shot in the dark. The offensive line

Will Little make the team? Who knows. Miami needs reinforcements along its offensive front, which struggled at times during the team’s first preseason action against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. From what we’ve seen of Little through two years in the league, it’s unlikely that he’s the answer. But at least he’s getting the opportunity to prove us wrong.

For Tua Tagovailoa’s sake as well as his own, let’s hope he can provide some help.
