Details on Pat McAfee Talks with SiriusXM

As Outkick reported, Pat McAfee has been in talks with SiriusXM to air his radio show. The deal is not signed but McAfee said on his show a deal is agreed upon.

Barring any unforeseen hiccups, beginning September 8, the Pat McAfee Show will expand to three hours and air from 12-3 pm ET on SiriusXM. McAfee will retain ownership of the show in a licensing agreement.

SiriusXM is still discussing which channel will carry the program. Mad Dog Sports Radio is the frontrunner. Sources do say, however, there are mixed feelings. At least one person employed by the channel expressed concerns that McAfee's style wouldn't mix with Mad Dog's sports-heavy content. Others involved, including some decision-makers, feel differently and want to get it done.

If Mad Dog Radio is ultimately the pick, the lineup will shift to make fit.

SiriusXM has discussed cutting the final hour of Morning Men (to 6-9 am) and airing Schein on Sports from 9 am to 12 pm, sources say. This would give the lineup a back-to-back-to-back of Schein, McAfee, and Chris "Mad Dog" Russo from 9 am to 6 pm. Currently, Steve Torre and Danny Kanell host from 1-3 pm.

Additionally, Outkick has learned it's known around the company that Nick Wright has wanted to move up in the lineup. Since 2018, Wright has hosted an afternoon show on Mad Dog Radio from 6-8 pm. If McAfee moves to the channel at midday, there's not a spot for Wright to move up to.

When reached for comment, a SiriusXM spokesperson did not respond.
