Multiple reports are surfacing that Deion Sanders is nearing an agreement to be the new head football coach at Jackson State. Part of his recent contract agreement with Barstool Sports was that they would support his pursuit to coach, so these reports doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

What may be a surprising hold up is sponsorship dollars?

Coming off a 4-8 campaign last year, Sanders would be looking to change the culture at Jackson State. Prime Time has the personality to influence recruiting classes, so expect a major jump in that department. To be fair, Jim Harbaugh resuscitated Michigan’s recruiting and it amounted to disappointment anyway.
Lucky for Deion that the South Western Athletic Conference would have much less resistance to a dominant recruiting class. Other big names have returned to the college game from their place in the NFL, but Prime’s name would matter more.
Remember how top basketball recruit Mikey Williams challenged other athletes to lift up black universities by investing their services? Deion Sanders could have waited for a “Prime Time” job and ditched building a program. If Deion ends up taking this job, his legacy somewhat intertwined with the future of Jackson State Football and that should be applauded.

Jackson State might get much more interesting if the deal goes through and if it does, we wish Prime luck!
They are very lucky to get Prime he is an all timer and a great human being will be excellent for those young people.
Congratulations to Deion! I wish him them best of luck. Maybe he can be the next big John Thompson that Whitlock has mentioned the sports world needs. Deion certainly isn’t a coward. He always brought excitement and energy to the game and I hope he can make an impact in young people’s lives!
Miss watching him and Bo Jackson really two special once in a generation athletes and so much fun to watch man were they great still two of the fastest 40 yard times ever and Bo at 230 lbs amazing.
Congrats to Coach Prime! He’s been the head coach of my Dave Show University Truckers squad on Twitch & You Tube for over 2 seasons and the recruiting has been stellar! The current team, not so much, but we’re getting there!
Deon is missing out on his real talent. Humor.
Leon Sandcastle is still the funniest NFL network promo ever. And he nailed it. I almost didn’t know it was him. 😈
Question:
Will he grow sideburns even though he shaves his head?
Will he grow a coaches belly? Deon running a 40 yd dash against his players, in sweats with a huge belly … pay-per-view event!!!!
I love that commercial! Greatest ever in my opinion!…..Deion is both a class act and a legend. I truly hope the young players he coaches know how lucky they are to have him as a coach.
Deion was an incredible player and I’m sure he’ll make an immediate impact. I heard that his son Shedeur committed to Florida Atlantic. A ton of talent in that family.
I live here in jackson (43 years & counting), dieon will not move the meter because the swac fans dont buy in
Big Time Congratulations to Deion for thinking about the future for both Jackson State University and for the players that will be under his charge. Can’t imagine the excitement that’s already percolating on campus!
Everybody likes Prime, man. I have to admit I didn’t think he was all that interested in a job, and I wonder how well somebody who had one-of-a-kind speed [and utilized it to bait QBs into INTs] can actually coach. Sometimes, the greats just do it at a level hardly anybody else can. Then again, many greats make a ton of money and have no reason to get into an ultra-stressful career like coaching. So maybe it’s more that than not being able to translate rare talent to instruction.
I hope he does well, and I say that as a Gator. Like I said, everybody likes Prime.
I’m glad he got this job and not the FSU job. This protects Prime and FSU if he doesn’t have the chops for coaching. If he does well, then you can start talking about Prime running FSU back to greatness.
