Deion Sanders Couldn’t Care Less About Sign-Stealing: 'Everyone's Trying To Get An Edge'

Sign-stealing is the talk of college football right now, but Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders does not care one iota about it.

While the University of Michigan is under fire over allegations of stealing signs, Sanders said he's not concerned about it because even if a team knows what's coming, they still need to stop it.

"I mean everyone's trying to get an edge," Coach Prime said. "I mean everyone's trying to get whatever edge they can. You could have someone's whole game plan. They can mail it to you; you still got to stop it."

Sanders has a unique perspective on this kind of issue, considering he played at the highest levels of two different sports. He said that he thinks sign-stealing is a bigger deal — and more effective — in baseball.

"You still got to stop and so in football is not as pronounced as baseball," Sanders said. "If I know a curveball is coming. I got you.

"Look — football — I don't give a damn you know a sweep is coming. You still got to stop it. Physically. It's is a physical game. You've got to stop it. So that's a little tough.

Sanders said he doesn't buy into a lot of this. That's because no matter how much you steal, you still have to go out and play the game.

"Back in our glory days with San Francisco, as well as the Cowboys, you knew, darn well Emmitt Smith is getting the ball. You knew darn well Mike Irvin is running the cut-back, you knew darn well Jay Novacek is gonna do what he's gonna do, and you couldn't stop it.

"It is what it is."
