Dave Portnoy Jumps in Howard Stern Vs. Joe Rogan COVID Debate

Howard Stern continues to take shots at Joe Rogan over his stance on the coronavirus and vaccine. Interestingly, while Rogan has not responded, Barstool’s founder Dave Portnoy has.

Here are Stern’s comments aimed at Rogan, who has not taken the vaccine:

“We have no time for idiots in this country anymore. We don’t want you. We want you to all either go the hospital, and stay home, die there with your COVID. Don’t take the cure, but don’t clog up our hospitals with your COVID when you finally get it. Stay home. Don’t bother with science, it’s too late. Go f— yourself, we just don’t have time for you.

“When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say, ‘It’s mandatory to get vaccinated’? F— ’em. F— their freedom. I want my freedom to live. I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bulls—. If you have a heart attack or any kind of problem, you can’t even get into the E.R. And I’m really of a mind to say, ‘Look, if you didn’t get vaccinated and you got COVID, you don’t get into a hospital.'”

For background, Stern, who is vaccinated, rarely leaves his house these days over fears of the virus. So who better to add into the mix than Dave Portnoy?

On his podcast this week, Portnoy said Stern has “become hypocritical.”

“He seems like somebody who slung it and would do anything and he’s quick now to, like, wag his finger at you. He almost seems like he’d be wagging his finger at a younger self, if that makes any sense,” Portnoy adds.

So what’s going on here?

As Portnoy acknowledged, Stern “revolutionized everything.” What’s so bizarre is that the Stern who revolutionized broadcasting spent decades mocking the kind of person Stern is today.

While Stern remains one of the best broadcasters in the country, he now lacks curiosity. Stern does not have an open mind anymore. He instead has a judgmental view of anyone outside of his Hollywood circle.

As a result, Howard Stern has abandoned the marketplace demand he created. The need for mavericks, independent thinkers, and honest voices. Ironically, Joe Rogan and Dave Portnoy have benefited the most from Stern’s transformation.

The story isn’t about which broadcasters are right about the vaccine and which are wrong. Instead, it’s that Joe Rogan and Dave Portnoy now ask the questions Stern won’t — they challenge our leaders and expose their incompetence. Rogan and Portnoy are open to opposing viewpoints. Meanwhile, Stern is defending Dr. Fauci and belittling anyone who dares to question the government’s role in mandating vaccines for all.

  1. “When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say, ‘It’s mandatory to get vaccinated’? F— ’em. F— their freedom. I want my freedom to live.”

Needle-dick, neurotic thought process. These people are so far gone. Isn’t their freedom to live protected by the vaccine? Bunch of lukewarm liberals. Up in arms about the importance of women’s right of choice to get an abortion but totally fuckin intolerant of an individual’s right to choose what medicine to put in their bodies. You’re either pro choice/civil liberties or you’re not.

I don’t understand how this dude keeps getting paid. SiriusXM must be paying this dude a lifetime achievement award contract. They don’t provide ratings on satellite radio but there’s no way he’s pulling any rating close to what he did in the 90’s. Dude is a crybaby establishment bootlicker now.

  2. I’m too young to remember Howard Stern’s heyday, but he’s such a fruitcake that I don’t understand how he ever got a bad boy image. As a vaccinated 67 year-old, his odds of dying from Covid are way below 1%. Hiding in his house all day because he’s terrified of interacting with an unvaccinated person is just plain broken-brained.

I don’t know what his original appeal ever was, but if I had to guess I’d say he took a lot of drugs and talked about it openly. He has the critical thinking ability of somebody whose brain has rotten away from heavy drug usage.

    • Same, I’m 29 so I wasn’t nearly old enough to have listened to him at his peak (which I believe was the early 90’s?). I think he built his audience by playing the edgy, antiestablishment shock jock in a huge media market (NY). He’s probably the exact opposite now of what made him famous.

    • I’m 33 and I can remember a bit of his relevance from back then since my step-dad (who is a boomer) listened to him at times. You gotta remember that his stuff was edgy back then in the 90s, the bar was quite low haha so he had little to compete with in the sense that being that bold was rare for an era where Reagan’s presidency was still present in the minds of many boomers. With no disrespect to Joe Rogan, Howard Stern is to boomers what Joe Rogan’s Podcast is to millennials.

Stern’s current radio show is probably listened to by enough boomers to keep it going no matter what is said, whether for nostalgia or their brains as well fell out.

TL;DR Stern is Mountain Dew for boomers that found no other caffeinated options on talk radio during the 90s.

  3. Never got the Howard is edgy thing remember him having porn stars and other intellectuals on show for edgy always enjoyed reading Hunter S Thompson believe Stern probably lives on Martha’s Vineyard with other douchebags.

  4. Like the article. Was a 20 year Stern fan until around 2015. He did change as Bobby wrote. I was slow to realize it but when he started having Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen, Rachel Maddow on I should have wised up. Don’t really follow anymore but not surprised to hear that he rarely leaves his house. Always been Germaphobe reclose. Stern is such a piece of shit these days. Kissing all the asses that he destroyed and went after in his early days. Love Bobby’s last paragraph about how Rogan and Portnoy will ask the tough questions that Stern will not these days. Please Keep up the great work.

  5. Stern is a douche. A hypocrite. A hypochondriac. An irrelevant narcissist. He is latching on to left wing Hollywood talking points to gain favor. His show is unlistenable and he should retire and count his money that he never shared with his team before he is remembered for being a total dud

  6. 90s Howard would totally goof on today’s Howard.

For those that wanna remember Stern before he sold out and became soft; Howard 101 and the movie “Private Parts.”

Personally, it seems like he became soft after he married Beth.

  7. Jay Leno, who was never that funny, now says comics should bend their material to the “rules of the day.” The mob, cancel culture controls comedy now. It is obvious that has been the case, so at least Leno, who is no longer relevant, admits it out loud. Tells you a lot about Leno’s sell-out mindset, even before this shit went down. Now you have Colbert dancing with vaccine syringes. That’s the state of comedy.

  8. Howard stay in your basement and isolate until Xiden & Fauci give you the all clear. Should come up some time next decade. In the meantime the rest of us will be enjoying ourselves being God fearing, baby loving, hard working and hard playing Americans.
