'Aquaman 2' Begins Shooting, Will Feature Surprise Villain

It's an exciting week for D.C. Comics movie division, as this past Monday the sequel to Aquaman began filming, entitled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Reports say that not only will the 'lost kingdom' be a big part of the second movie, but that there is going to be a surprise villain for the flick as well.

It's not known who that villain will be, but like with everything super hero, it will surely have people talking.

One possibility for the 'secret' villain is Mongo, the tyrannical leader of the city of Necrus - which happens to be the production title of the movie.

If Necrus is going to be a part of the movie in some fashion, it makes sense for Mongo to have some sort of role as well.

Mongo has a desire to kill humans who come into the sea. He would make an interesting antagonist for Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and as the ruler of another underwater city, he’d function as a legitimate threat to Atlantis and its citizens.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, directed by James Wan, is due in theaters right before Christmas in 2022, with a current release date of December 22nd, 2022.
