'Yellowstone' Spinoff Might Add Major Star: DETAILS

The upcoming "Yellowstone" spinoff reportedly is targeting actress Michelle Pfeiffer for a leading role.

The legendary Western saga about a Montana ranching family returns in November for its final episodes, but it might not be the end of the Duttons.

A spinoff series that will take place in present day has been in development for over a year, and it's believed multiple "Yellowstone" characters could make appearances.

Matthew McConaughey is the top priority, but he has yet to sign a deal for the spinoff series. Puck reported he's waiting to see a script to commit to the Taylor Sheridan project.

"Yellowstone" spinoff targeting Michelle Pfeiffer.

While McConaughey's future on the show remains unclear, the producers of the series "are much closer on Michelle Pfeiffer" agreeing to a deal to play the female lead, according to the same Puck report.

Pfeiffer agreeing to play the female lead would be a very solid addition, especially if she ends up starring opposite of McConaughey.

Pfeiffer was a major star in Hollywood in the 1980s and 1990s before taking a step back for a bit. The woman famous for being Catwoman in "Batman Returns" ultimately returned with "Murder on the Orient Express" and "The Wizard of Lies."

She has MAJOR name recognition with older "Yellowstone" fans, and younger viewers who might not be aware of her work can rest easy knowing she has the gravel in her stomach to get the job done.

Seeing Michelle Pfieffer opposite Matthew McConaughey a spinoff of the Western series would be electric. Now that it's in my mind, I kind of can't accept anything else.

More than anything, I'm just ready to see how "Yellowstone" ends and what fans get with the spinoff. We've spent years invested, and it's time for the journey to come to a close. As soon as it does, we'll pivot to the spinoff and hopefully another season of "1923." Sheridan simply doesn't rest, and that's great for fans of his work.
