'Yellowstone' Fans React To Major Season 5 Update

Cameras are finally rolling again on the final season of "Yellowstone."

The fifth season will serve as the conclusion of the epic neo-Western hit from Taylor Sheridan, and it was announced Monday that production is finally underway after a lengthy break.

The first half of season five ended at the start of 2023. It was supposed to return summer 2023. That obviously didn't happen.

Now, Western series is scheduled to return in November, and the biggest question fans have is whether or not Kevin Costner will return.

It seems like it's almost a guarantee he won't. It's a shame, but it seems the bridge between him and Sheridan is beyond fixing.

Production resumes on final season of "Yellowstone."

Well, let's not let that ruin the biggest "Yellowstone" update in more than a year. Fans took to Reddit with their reactions to the news production is underway.

Check out a few of the reactions floating around on Reddit about Costner's absence and the production firing back up below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:

  • I'm going to have to re-watch season 5 as I've forgotten what happened as its been so bloody long.
  • They foreshadowed killing him in season 5 so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what happens. That said though, can’t wait for them to ruin a good show.
  • Finally.
  • Yes!!!
  • I hope that they either kill John Dutton off screen or have Josh Lucas play him. I know that this won’t be a popular opinion, but I liked Yellowstone in spite of Costner, not because of him.
  • He’s too worried about his show, but like you said let’s get it on with Kelly Cole and the rest of the cowboys.
  • They're just STARTING production? I've already forgotten almost everything that was going on.
  • Lucky you. I wish I could forget how mind-numbingly boring the first half of season 5 was.
  • Just end it, the shirts have arrived at Walmart, the vinyl die cut stickers have done their time on the back of Super Duty windows. It’s past its prime and is rotting on the vine.
  • Does anyone care anymore...

As you can tell, people aren't nearly as excited as you'd think. It seems like all the drama off-screen between Costner and Sheridan has killed the excitement and buzz you'd normally see.

However, I can promise you that I'm *PUMPED* to finally get a serious update. With production underway in late-May, it's still very possible the show returns as scheduled in November.

There aren't a lot of special effects needed on "Yellowstone." It should be able to hit the air not too long after production and the marketing cycle ends.
