'Yellowstone' Fans Hilariously Roast The Show's Season Five Update

"Yellowstone" fans continue to cook the show ahead of its eventual return.

As OutKick readers know, I'm a big fan of "Yellowstone." It's been my favorite show on TV since its 2018 premiere. Through the highest highs and lowest of lows, I've stuck with the neo-Western from Taylor Sheridan.

However, even I'd be lying if I said the situation hadn't grown increasingly frustrating over the past year. There's been nonstop drama, and as of now, Kevin Costner isn't returning.

Well, fans at this point have just resorted to mocking any update the show shares.

"Yellowstone" cooked over latest Instagram post

The Paramount Network series took to Instagram Wednesday to let anyone who might have missed the news know that production on the rest of the final season is underway.

The update also included a picture of a set seat with the iconic "Yellowstone" logo and cowboy hat.

Naturally, viewers had to jump in and give the show a piece of their mind about the insane gap between new episodes. Check out some of the best reactions below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:

  • "It's been 84 years" Titanic meme.
  • I think Tate is 27 now.
  • If Rip isn’t in it… don’t want it
  • lol finally. I was about to take this series to the train station!
  • Tate’s going to have to shave his beard.
  • I’d rather see if Spencer makes it home in 1923….
  • Definitely gonna have to do a rewatch, it’s been too long! I’ve forgotten most things
  • We’ve waited so long I don’t think I care anymore. You left us high and dry for ages.
  • which means we still have a year minimum to finally see these alleged episodes
  • Tate is gonna have a beard by the time it airs

That's more or less the vibe throughout the comments section, and it's hard to blame fans for feeling that way ahead of the November return. It's been roughly 17 months since season five took a break.

The original announcement shared by the network about production resuming received a similar icy reception on Reddit a few days ago.

I hate to say it, but it really seems like many fans have thrown in the towel. Part of me wants to give them the ultimate pep talk, but another part of me understands why people aren't happy.

There was a lengthy break between seasons three and four and it could be two years between the mid-season break and season five finally ending the show. Add in the fact Kevin Costner not returning likely means viewers have been robbed of a proper ending, and I don't blame anyone for being outraged.

Having said all that, we have to keep the faith that Taylor Sheridan can still give us the kind of ending we deserve. Let's hope he crafts a series finale that justifies six years worth of time being invested. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com how you expect the series to end.
